Professional development is an important step towards ensuring one is more appealing to both your colleagues and employers. It helps with self-image, and thus individuals often carry out the SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis of personal skills will assist one to learn more about self. During SWOT analysis, the workforce can react in two ways, more so after they have listed all their weaknesses (Kumar, 2008). SWOT analysis focuses on four elements has shown in its acronym. To know about all the four elements can assist one to make necessary changes effectively.
Based on the SWOT analysis, a plan to meet the identified needs look like that with an interview context. Here, knowledge tests, feedback, and observation, is a plan that helps with self-assessment and at the same time looking for needs within a group or in an individual (Kumar, 2008). As an individual, SWOT analysis beneficial since it provides an opportunity to gauge oneself my strengths and weaknesses, as long as I am honest with my answers.
Looking at the program outcome, I would first start my personal assessment by carrying out a brainstorming session. This way, I would create a two-column chart that will consist of my professional activities on the right and those that need improvement on the left. This way, I would be able to analyze my position, those that have gone wrong, and those that need improvement. I would follow it up with exercise session, and after writing my progress report, I would then make a plan for future assessment.
To determine my personal growth following the areas of the program outcomes, some of the tool I would use includes the balanced scorecards, which I would use to measure my strategy performance. It would be used to estimate my level of progress I put towards the program. Kumar (2008) noted that of importance is to use it while applying a framework management model. I would also use social interaction and physical exercise to boost my level of confidence, which in turn dictates the level of outcome.
The benefit of self-reflection helps one with learning his or her mistakes. If one fails to reflect on his or her mistakes, there is high likelihood the mistakes will be repeated, which is not a smart thing. Kumar (2008) observed that if we reflect on our mistakes constantly, identify our wrong doings and figure out how we can prevent them from happening in the future, we, therefore, can learn from them and be better. They are therefore a valuable tool for learning and self-development.
According to Kumar (2008), self-reflection and career development is a matter of mind-body question. Self-reflection can put into clarification the direct emotional status on the intentions of discomfort with decisions versus emotional clarity of comfort thinking. All the self-reflections create cognitive integration element. Cognitive integration means that the emotions are intellectual and thus can be aligned. Whenever this happens, Kumar (2008) noted that there is going to be a relaxation response, which will enhance health and thus purposeful movement will be directed towards a career goal. All these combined will create a balanced success for career enhancement.
My thoughts on "Preparing the 21st Century global healthcare workforce," revolve around the need to establish a new approach towards training. The training should be aimed at meeting demands on global caring demands for the rise in the number of patients suffering from chronic conditions. The article talks about the limitations that contribute to chronic conditions globally there is a need for realistic recommendations towards caring for patients with chronic conditions. Finally, my thoughts, apart from the chronic conditions, are vast quality improvement towards equipping the workforce with skills, which I admit is a commendable in terms of 21st century healthcare.
