Theprediction that there will be insufficient numbers of physicians oroncologists in the future to meet the cancer patients’ needs isconfusing since we all know that a lot of students including myselftrain to be able to handle such illness. I agree with the fact thatthe centers of excellence have tried to come up to care for cancersurvivors since they are at a high risk of developing second cancer,as they age. The patients are also at a great danger of getting achronic illness that can affect their survival hence increasing theneed for post-treatment survivorship. After reading the article, Ibelieve proper attention and care should be dedicated to patientsinside and outside the hospitals. I did not know that that survivorof cancer are not followed up and cared for, but have learned thatthe centers of excellence are fighting for the need of cancersurvivors and are sensitizing people about cancer. The difference isas a result of lack of information or media enlighten in this area inthat light.

Professional

Therole of taking care of cancer patients reminds me of the manyexperiences we as physicians are called upon to sacrifice our timedue to the call of duty. We as physician always ensured that patientstake their medical and eat an appropriate diet in the hospital.Patients are always advice to keep close contact with the hospitalsand keep checking on their health progress is per what I experiencedprofessionally. I will make sure that directories of patients withcancer are kept and followed up.

Withthe advancement in technology and presence of medical breakthrough incancer and presence of government and non-government organizatione.g. American Cancer Society organization, I did not expect thatthere is no follow up on cancer survivor The progress that the mediaportrays is an opposite of this article. Our community at large needsto be cautious of cancer and promote eating behavior that promotegood health. Also as a community we have a duty to check on theprogress of cancer patients and help where necessary. The UnitedStates have set aside care cost and programs, example American CancerSociety to cater for cancer patients and associated health risks.Other countries have not been left behind as they try to modernizetheir facilities with modern cancer treatment equipment’s andproviding free or subsidized this services.
